My Neighbor Totoro
Link: My Neighbor TotoroIntroduction
The brief for this project was to create a website promoting a film pre-2000 that will be released into a local, independent business, enticing customers back into the cinema. The main goals were to focus on call to action buttons and design, ticketing information, details of the cinema and a synopsis of the story and characters.
Research
As I have seen this film many times with it being one of my favourites, I already knew the storyline rather well. The main point of research was on the typography style to use, and the local independent cinema I wanted to use.
Design
Usually I would go for the English spelling of the word 'neighbour', howevever I decided to go with the American version on the basis that a lot of Japan's modernities are influenced by or similar to the West, largely America.
Also, around the same time as this site was being created, the first wave of the My Neighbour Totoro theatrical production was on show, and I didn't want any possibility of the two being confused.
I wanted the colours to replicate that of the film, so I decided to go with blue to represent the sky and green to represent the grass. To make the site a bit more fun and appealing to the younger audience, I thought the grass footer would be attractive and very playful.
